Legal Clinic of Embassy of India in Kuwait revamped

The Embassy of India has further revamped and improved its Legal Advice Clinic at the Indian Workers Welfare Center, and made the free service available to Indian nationals on all five working days, i.e. from Sunday to Thursday every week.

Kuwaiti lawyers would be available at the Legal Advice Clinic daily from Monday to Thursday, while Indian lawyers would be available on Sundays.

Following are the free welfare services provided at the Indian Workers Welfare Center located at the Embassy of India:

(i) 24×7 Helpline for Domestic Workers: Accessible by toll free telephone No. 25674163 from anywhere in Kuwait, it provides information and advice exclusively to Indian domestic sector workers (Visa No. 20) as regards their grievances, immigration and other matters.

(ii) Help Desk: It offers guidance to Indian nationals on routine immigration, employment, legal, and other issues (Embassy premises; 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4.30 pm, Sunday to Thursday);

Kuwait to deport teachers' husbands who break rules

According to a local daily,

Kuwait's education ministry has warned expatriate women teachers that they would deport their husbands in case they broke the family visa rules by taking up jobs in the country.

Under the visa, the husband is sponsored by his wife and can stay with her in Kuwait, but is not allowed to work

"All expatriate teachers who wish to sponsor their husbands in Kuwait should be aware of the implications of breaking the visa rules," said Mona Al Loghani, the education ministry undersecretary.

"The deportation decision will be made in cooperation with the interior ministry and will also result in the non-issuance of any visa or sponsorship for the teacher," she said in a statement, published in the Kuwaiti media on Tuesday.

Education ministry has taken an exceptional move by allowing female teachers to sponsor their husbands "in order to help achieve family stability and help boost their school performance.

Kuwait water is safe, says international expert

International water expert Joseph Katrivo has affirmed that the Kuwaiti waters are safe and consistent with international standards. The assertion was made following tests done to various water networks which are run by the Ministry of Electricity and Water.

Noting that bromide percentage is within international levels, the expert added that the Kuwaiti waters are the best in the world in terms of quality and that they don't contain any particles that may transmit diseases.

The expert pointed out that Kuwaiti waters are as good as mineral water in terms of high quality. He further explained that bromide levels are within the limits specified by the World Health Organization (WHO), and brushed aside the notion that bromide can cause cancer.

No intention to increase power, water fees: MEW

 

The Ministry of Electricity and Water has no intention to increase the power and water fees, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Minister Salem Al-Uthayna.

Asserting the ministry does not decide on raising energy fees on its own, Al-Uthayna explained the issue requires a comprehensive study and a series of discussions among the concerned authorities.
