Convert from Visa 20 to Visa 18

The ministry has issued a decision allowing domestics, holding Article 20, to transfer their residence to Article 18 and work in companies in the private sector. However, they must transfer their residencies to the same sponsor or any of his/her first degree relative, reports local daily.

Daily reports that the decision, which has been issued by Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Sector Mansour Al- Mansour, will take effect on May 29, 2011 and last until Aug 31, 2011. He maintains that the move is going to reorganize the labor market for the non-governmental sector and resolve the problem of shortage of laborers inside the labor market.

The decision stipulates that the laborer must have had valid residence before May 1, 2011 and should be ready to transfer to the same sponsor or any of his first degree relatives, sources stressed

According to a study conducted by a US Navy researcher and reported by USA TODAY, US troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait have inhaled microscopic dust particles laden with toxic metals, bacteria and fungi.

A toxic stew that may explain everything from the undiagnosed Gulf War Syndrome symptoms lingering from the 1991 war against Iraq to high rates of respiratory, neurological and heart ailments encountered in the current wars, scientists say.

Legal Clinic of Indian embassy Kuwait now open on all working days

 

The Embassy of India has further revamped and improved its Legal Advice Clinic at the Indian Workers Welfare Center, and made the free service available to Indian nationals on all five working days, i.e. from Sunday to Thursday every week.

Kuwaiti lawyers would be available at the Legal Advice Clinic daily from Monday to Thursday, while Indian lawyers would be available on Sundays.

Dusty winds warning

Winds are expected to pickup and transform into northern and northwestern dust-spewing gales in the coming hours, an authority warned yesterday. Meteorologist Issa Ramdhan said in a statement that the winds speed would increase to 20-60 km/h shortly and peak to 70 km/h in the evening. Simultaneously, the horizontal visibility will ebb to less than 100 meters, and, probably, less than that level in the desert and farming areas, including Abdali.

He warned the goers to the desert and the sea to be cautious, also cautioning that waves at the sea may reach 4-8 feet. As to today's weather, he predicted turbulent conditions. Peak temperature forecast at 45-46 degrees in the coming days and humidity at 20 percent. He urged citizens to follow up on weather bulletins. --- KUNA
