Living costs in kuwait in Salmiya

Hi Everyone,


I have accepted a offer in kuwait for 1200 KD. Is this salary sufficient for an indian family of two  to live comfortably and make sufficient savings? Could anyone provide me the breakdown of cost of living in Kuwait? I understand that Salmiya is the best place for an Indian to reside in kuwait and so appreciate if anyone tell me following costs-


1. 1BHK flat in Salmiya


2. Monthly Expenditure


3. Mobile & Internet Cost- Monthly


4. Purchase of a Car - new & Second Hand


5. Possible cost of following items - bed, sofa set, electronic items.


6. Best places to visit in Salmiya.


appreciate if anyone can help me out with above information. I have gone through the guide on sample cost of living but still prefer if anyone can let me tell the current costs.

Piyush, congratulations!!!

1200 KD is a pretty impressive salary in Kuwait. Salmiya is one among the best places to live in Kuwait. See below the average cost of living

1. 1BHK flat in Salmiya -~200-220 KD

2. Monthly Expenditure - ~150 KD

3. Mobile & Internet Cost- Monthly ~ 10-15 KD

4. Purchase of a Car - new & Second Hand -~ 2000KD to up for a decent used car. Check the used cars in Kuwait under the Kuwait classifieds section of this site

5. Possible cost of following items - bed, sofa set, electronic items. ~ 200-300 KD

Do you live in Salmiya? Are you from India? Do we have enough Indian restaurants in Salmiya region?


How'z social life for an Indian in kuwait along with wife? What's the recreation things to do in kuwait?


And last, is it easy to bring parents on Visit Visa in the country?

I live in Salmiya and this is one of the famous areas for Indians. to my knowledge, there are more than 25 Indian restaurents.. mainly veg, but you will get non-veg as well if you prefer.

Visit visa should not be a problem for your or spouses parents

So, if the driving license is valid over here, it can be transferred in kuwait and I would  be not required to undergo driving process....Right?

SIR, My wife is working in Salmiya,Kuwait as General Nurse.Im in India now.I have a Virtel mobile connection.ie.,an American net phone service.I took a connection for her also.If I remmitted a fixed monthly charge, both callig rates are free of cost.I would like to know about this Virtel Connection is legally permitted in Kuwait.Kindly reply me at the eariest.

i am a fresher. hav got job offer to work in salmiya, hotel missoni for 165 KD. food, accomkodation,free medical insurance, free laundry n dry cleaning, net connection and workplace transportation is free apart form above salary. wud dis be sufficient?

Hi ammu, As per the Kuwait's Visa Policies, you won't be entitled to bring your husband in Kuwait , if you get a job. It is your husband who should get a job. Also once you are here in Kuwait your husband can come on visit visa but again he would need some Kuwaiti to sponser him a job in kuwait and only then will he be able to live in Kuwait. This visit Visa is valid for one month only. Hope this answers your doubts. Rishabh

Thumb rule is: Add each one

Thumb rule is: Add each one person as min. KD.100/month. If you are 4 family members mans KD.400/month all incl. cars, schools, rents, utilitis, etc. etc.

@zakir if you are going to stay as a bachlor in kuwait, your total expenses would not exceed KD 350 - 400. So, get up for it.
