Transfer of vehicle

The simplest thing to get done in Kuwait is the transfer of vehicle. You will require to go to your respective muroor office. Mine was at Maidian Hawally and below is the steps require to complete the transfer.

Opposite maidian hawally muroor office, there is a typing center. Give the old dafther (vehicle registration document or card) and civil Id of both parties and tell him you need the forms for transfer of vehicle. The cost of typing and stamp is KD 8.500.

Take all the forms to the muroor and as your enter the office, give all the forms along with the civil id of both parties for verification. The documents will be verified, signed and given back to you for your signatures along with a token. Wait for your turn.

Once your turn comes, go to the respective counter and give the forms. They will check for any pending fines from the previous owner and print the new dafther (registration document).  If there are any pending fines, it shall be paid on the spot.

Take it back to the first counter where you had given the documents for verification, the officer will sign the document and put a stamp on the dafther. End of official work.

Do not forget to check the accuracy of information on the new registration document.

As you come out of the muroor, on the right there is a small counter. Give the registration document there and they will laminate the same for you. The cost for lamination is 0.250 fils.

Update - 05-12-2010.

Note that the transfer of vehicle can be done at any muroor. Also the timing for the same has been changed. It is now between 4pm to 7pm at all muroor's.
