Secure you Home Wireless Network

Secure you Home Wireless Network
1.Change default administrator password and username
Hacker (your neighbour :-)) knows the default usernames and passwords for all devices. So change it.

2.Enable Encryption
There are different types of encryption available for the wireless devices. Choose the best one which is supported by your laptop.

3.Disable SSID broadcast
Not required in a home environment, unless you have different wireless access points and you roam around a lot. Don’t get this point? Post your device model and we will help you out.

4.Change default SSID
Knowing SSID will partly help neighbors to break into your wireless network. So change it. Don’t get this point? Post your device model and we will help you out.

5.Enable MAC address filtering
If supported by you device, enable MAC address filtering and add your laptop MAC address to the list. This ensures that only you can connect to the wireless access point.

6.Enable firewall

Securing Home Computer

Your home PC is a popular target for intruders.

Why?
It is mostly not secured by an updated antivirus program, the operating system is pirated and thus does not have security patches released by the vendor, there may not be a firewall software installed.

Why do they need it?
They need hard disk space, your finance details, your processor power, etc., S/he may even want your high speed internet connection to start an attack to somewhere else, thus hiding from law agencies and putting you into legal troubles.

How do they do it?
they take advantage of a weakness in the program that is installed in your PC. They could send you an email with a link and trick you to click that, which in turn could lead you to get infected by a malware.

How do I secure?
1. Install a Anti Virus program and keep it updated with latest definition files from the vendor.

Beware of sites listed in search results

I was searching about the sand storm forecast in Google and what happened to the predictions. I ended up these pages as I sorted it with dates

http://www.google.com/search?q=kuwait%20sandstorm&hl=en&rls=com.microsof...

While going through the results, I noticed two sites which are listed but leads to the irrelevant pages. When checked the pattern, both these sites are pointing to similar pages. (links are taken off)

smaggy. com/ nitgn/pztyp/ kuwait.php
dianfacil. com/ gyzkp/bncyw/ kuwait.php

On further analisys, it showed that these pages contains virus / malware which will infect the internet explorer. The details of the malware is quoted below
